Living in 2023, we are constantly surrounded by gadgets of all sizes. Whether it’s our work laptop, our bedroom TV, our child’s tablet, or our very own smartphone, screen displays have become an integral part of our lives.

No doubt, these devices have enhanced our lifestyles and made our lives simpler. However, they have increased concerns about screen time and over-exposure to blue light!

Moreover, when it comes to TV screens, Flickering and Glary screens can cause a lot of eyestrain. Therefore, it is important that your TV screen should be suitable for comfortable viewing for long hours. In this article, I will be exploring some of the Best Smart TV with Eye protection. These TV screens emit less blue light, are flicker-free, and are comfortable for your eyes.

What is the Best TV Screen type for your Eyes?

Short Answer? The OLED TVs are the best and safest option for your Eyes.

There are essentially 4 types of screen displays in the market, namely the conventional LCDs, conventional LEDs, OLEDs and QLEDs. Let’s look at each one by one.

LCD TVs have a fluorescent backlight which flickers most of the time. Flickering is not at all good for your eyes, especially if you have sensitive eyes.

Conventional LEDs are basically LCD TVs with LED backlighting. The flickering is less, but there is blue-light emission which is still hazardous for your eyes.

QLEDs are just like conventional LEDs except that they use tiny nanoparticles called quantum dots to supercharge their brightness and color.  They are better for your eyes but certainly not the best as the flicker is still there.

OLED displays don’t need a backlight because each OLED pixel produces its own light. OLEDs have a wide viewing angle, close to no flickering display and substantially less blue light emission than other types of display. For these reasons, OLED is the best TV type for your eyes or even for sensitive eyes.

Which is the Best Smart TV with Eye Protection?

Now let’s start off with our list of all the Smart TVs that are safe for your Eyes. These are all low blue light TVs which is why they are suitable for your health.

1. LG C2 Series Class OLED evo Smart TV (Best Overall Smart TV with Eye-protection)

The LG C2 OLED Smart TV is among the premium TVs of 2023. I personally admire this Smart TV due to a lot of reasons.

The Smart TV has OLED technology that reduces harmful blue light which is way higher in other types of TVs. Another way the LG C2 series TV is the safest for your eyes is because of its flicker-free and glare-free screen. The OLED technology TVs naturally flicker way less than the conventional LED TVs.

Moreover, if you have sensitive eyes, this Smart TV lets you go a step further and enable the LG Smart TV’s eye comfort mode. This is a special mode designed to automatically adjust colors and brightness, in order to reduce eye strain. Furthermore, it’s an LG Eyesafe certified TV, so you need to worry about your eye safety while watching this TV.

Not only that, but I am a huge fan of the Smart TV’s processing power and its smart features. The LG C2 series Smart TV has the a5 Gen 5 AI processor, which enhances standard footage to 4K.

When I tested the picture quality, it clearly defeated its competitors. The picture was sharp, bright, warm to the eyes and there wasn’t any flickering as claimed by LG. Moreover, to my surprise the LG C2 Smart TV had a wide viewing-angle. I viewed the TV from both sides and experienced no luminance degradation. It does not strain the eyes even when viewed at an angle, and this makes it the best smart TV with Eye protection!

As far as the software is concerned, the Smart TV comes with LG’s WebOS which is easy-to-use and has all popular streaming apps like Netflix, Amazon Prime, Hulu etc. The Smart TV has built-in Alexa which provides voice-control and increases the overall usability!

Last but not least, there is good news for all the gamers out there. The LG C2 series Smart TV is a great TV for gamers due to its 120Hz Refresh Rate and the ability to adjust the refresh rate through Variable Refresh Rate (VRR) technology. The Samsung OLED S95B Smart TV is another TV that takes into account Eye protection for its users.

The Smart TV has the OLED display that prevents excessive blue-light exposure and is suitable for longer viewing. Not only that, but this Samsung TV prevents eye-strain with its special EyeComfort Mode! While in this mode, the Smart TV automatically adjusts the brightness and makes the picture warmer without compromising the overall picture quality. As far as the picture quality is concerned, this Samsung Smart TV is very impressive. The Smart TV seamlessly displays Ultra HD (4K) content with remarkable brightness levels, giving the above mentioned LG C2 TV a close competition! The Samsung S95B Smart TV comes with the modern Neural Quantum Processor which provides fool-proof image processing. The input lag is minimal, which is great for gamers. Now let’s look at a budget option. Here is another LG eyesafe TV that is not only lighter for your eyes is also light on your pocket!

The LG OLED A1 Series Smart TV is another TV that offers remarkable picture quality along with all its cool smart features.

The display type is OLED which as discussed before is great for your eyes as compared to the conventional LEDs. The refresh rate is 60 Hz which is lesser than the LG C2 Tv that we explored above, when I tested it still did a great job. Moreover, since it’s cheaper than the LG C2 model, I was expecting this change.

As for gamers, despite a lower refresh rate, the TV does a pretty reasonable job. As far as processing capabilities are concerned, the TV comes with A7 Gen 4 AI Processor, which has power processing capabilities. The processor can upscale lower resolution content to 4K quite efficiently!

What might appeal to you the most is that, to prevent eye strain, you can shift to Eye Comfort mode, which offers a warmer picture and less blue light.

The Smart TV is loaded with built-in Alexa and the LG WebOS, which means it offers a great overall smart home experience to you! The navigation was simple, and the TV offers all popular streaming apps like YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Prime etc.

Overall, the LG A1 series Smart TV delivers a mix of quality and budget-friendliness. While the picture is not as good as the LG C2 or the Samsung Smart TV discussed above, the Smart TV is still pretty impressive when it comes to overall picture quality, brightness levels and eye comfort!

Vizio has made its mark in the Smart TV industry. It offers great TVs at lower prices. As OLED TVs are the new norm these days, Vizio came up with its own OLED Smart TV which is highly impressive!

The Smart TV has a 120Hz display which is comfortable for your eyes as the flickering is less with a high refresh rate. Apart from that, the OLED display offers great blackness levels and overall picture quality.

The Interface is great but not as good as LG or Samsung. Navigation in this TV could be improved by Vizio.

The Processing is fast and there is minimal input lag. The content is perfectly delivered in 4K resolution. The color accuracy is great when it comes to the Vizio OLED TV, but still, it doesn’t compare to Samsung or LG. According to me, LG is the leader when it comes to color accuracy and vibrance of colors.

Although there is no Eye protection mode in this TV, the OLED itself ensures safety for your eyes. Therefore, I included it in the list of best Smart TV with Eye Protection.

Buying Guide – Best Smart TV with Eye Protection

Here are some factors you must consider while buying a Smart TV that is safe for your Eyes.

Screen Type

While selecting a Smart TV, make sure you consider the type of screen it has. As discussed earlier in the article, OLED screens are the safest for your eyes. Therefore, it will be a wise choice if you pick a Smart TV with OLED screen.

Eye Comfort mode

Some Top Smart TVs come with an Eye Comfort or Eye Protection mode, in which the TV automatically adjusts brightness and makes the picture warm (reducing Blue light).

You should prefer buying a Smart TV that incorporates an Eye Comfort mode!

Wide Viewing angle

This is a very important factor while buying a Smart TV that is safe for your eyes.

Make sure you select a Smart TV that has a wide viewing angle. You can view the TV from both sides (not just the front), without any luminance degradation or glare.

Most of the LCD and LED TVs get glary when viewed from the sides. Make sure you select a Smart TV that is glare-free and offers substantial levels of luminance when viewed from the sides.

Less Blue light and Flickering

Most conventional screen displays release blue light, which is hazardous for our health. Continuous exposure to blue light can lead to headaches and can disrupt sleep. Moreover, it can damage your eyes.

Therefore, choose a Smart TV with less blue light emission. Moreover, select a screen time that has minimal Flickering (like the OLEDs), as it can cause eye strain.
